My Reflection :

We were learninhg about biospheres  and then we started making some . This is my groups one as you can see  we have a farm , water cycle ,  beach , forest , bedrooms / toilets , kitchen , vet / doctors , storage room , power systems and labs we need all that stuff to live .

Reflection :
This is my plan for my Narrative plan . The hardest part was the last bit writing about your own character, because it doesn't really tell u much about my character William,  but the easiest bits were writing about Yeats and what happend in the story .

over the past weeks we have been learning and doing a lot of fun activites with our best student teacher ever 


 Swimming, we have been having swimming lessons . Mrs graham and miss Terry has been teaching the unconfined swimmers and the mrs pittaway has been teaching the confident swimmers . we have learnt how to breath properly  , freestyle  and a little bit of back stroke and then we get free time


Athletics , all the year 5 and 6 have been doing athletics . We have been doing high jump , long jump , sprints , and shot put my favorite activity is long jump because its so fun . we have inter school athletics coming up on Wednesday

between two ends, our student teacher Mrs terry has been reading us a novel book called between two ends it is about a boy   named Yeats and his parents visit his grandmother's creepy old house, Yeats reunites a pair of pirate bookends and uncovers the amazing truth . Also its about a girl named Shari and she went into the book so Yeats went to find her.

dancing , all the year 6 have been practicing dancing for the end of year dance . A instructor comes and teaches us we dance with a boy and then we keep switching partners .

Over this week we have been learning a lot of stuff ...

We have been writing a ballad its some sort of poem .  To make a poem a ballad it should have  4 lines in each stanza , ABCB rhyming pattern and structure like a story .


We have also been doing paper mache . Since we have been learning about planets we are making paper mache planets .


For maths we have been learning about geometry , Our teacher sent us a google slide that had task about geometry on it we had to answer some questions about shapes and we also had to play some geometry games .


We have been reading a book called between two end it is quite a difficult book to understand . the book is about When Yeats and his parents visit his grandmother's creepy old house, Yeats reunites a pair of pirate bookends and uncovers the amazing truth: Years ago, Yeats's father traveled into The Arabian Nights with a friend, and the friend, Shari, is still stuck in the tales

Ballad 2016

My Reflection:
Room 20 has been learning how to write a ballad it was very fun because we have neither done it before. We have learnt that you have to have 4 lines in each stanza and also it has to be in a abcb rhyming pattern. My ballad is about going for a walk.

Over the last couple of weeks we have been very busy learning new stuff.

On Monday the 9th of September all the year 6 went to camp MERC in long bay . It was so fun we got to do a lot of activities such as body boarding , stack EM, giant ladder , abseiling, rock climbing, sling shot , archery and outdoor survival. My favorite activity was abseiling and stack EM  , I would love to go again


The gymnastic team had a gymnastic competition the day after camp . So we went to champ champs because we won the competition that we had before champ champs . We went to champ champ in the school van and we competed we did very well but only the boys got a placing they came 2 they did very well, we all did very well


other than that we have just been doing a story called show don't tell . We wrote about camp MERC and what our favorite activity was. Show don't tell is when you write a story and you have to say how you re feeling but you try not to tell them so say I wrote ( example )  my heart was beating fast because I was scared you wouldn't say that because that is telling everyone what your feeling you are just supposed to write ( example )  My heart was beating fast . So that is what a show don't tell story is about.

My Reflection :
Room 20 has been making show don't tell stories about how much fun we had at camp . We had to choose one activity that we liked the most , I choose abseiling. We had to highlight the sentences that were show not tell sentences. Show not tell is when you right a story but you say stuff that actually doesn't tell you like how you are feeling .

MERC

My Reflection :

All of the year 6 from elm park school went to camp MERC. It was really fun we did a lot of cool activity's and we also learnt about Sir Peter Blake .  This certificate was from the people who work at camp MERC .

Prediction

My reflection :
Room 20 has been learning about how to make a prediction . We have been reading the book called the wrinkle in time. We had to make a prediction on what we thought was going to happen in the story .

Recount from pakuranga

conclusion : 

Yesterday on the 17th of august most of the elm park school year 6 went to pakuranga intermediate for an open day .  We traveled by bus. We went to pakuranga intermediate so that we could see what intermediate is like.

Body :

When we first got there they welcomed us into there hall and they talked to us about what we were going to do .  After that we got split up into different groups my group was group one . first my group went to hard materials and we got to make a cup holder but we did not get to finish them.  After that we went to pacific

and we got taught the Pacific actions ( dance moves ) . It was really fun because the teacher was really funny. After that we went back to the hall and 2 students from pakuranga intermediate talked to everyone about there school.

Conclusion : 

I had a great day, there school looks like a good school.  

Reading

speech 2016

Over the past weeks we have been making our 2016 speeches. I did mine on why schools should be mufti.  It took me a long time to make this because there is a lot of planning to do .

Term 3 week 1 diary post

This week we have had a busy week. We have been learning a lot of new things.

Every Tuesday and Thursday we have our cross country practice. For our cross country practices we go around the block and go for a run. 

Every Wednesday we have people come and teach us about mountain biking. Last Wednesday we had a fun biking lesson because we got to ride around the courts and we got to play a game. The game was that you had to bike around on the courts and if we put our feet on the ground  we were out,and the instructor kept making the square smaller and  smaller. I came 2 to last.

 

We still do SDL ( self directed learning ) . But we do it differently now. There's this google app and its called my work space, out teacher sets us task and we have to complete them by a certain time , It will come up saying on the side when it is due by.  Some of the activities that Mrs Graham set for us was a maths activity  which was when you have to explain about math symbols and the second activity was a reading activity , it was a wrinkle in time , its the same thing you have to explain about that story . I like this SDL way better because it is easier to get to .

Netball game

The netball A team had a netball game yesterday . We versed Wakaranga school. We one by 3 points the final score was 20-17.

I played GA , GA is goal attack. Goal attack is when you get to be in your square that you shoot in and the middle square and also your aloud to shoot. 

Art

We are learning about value in art. Such as how light or dark something is.

Chuck close is the person who invented grid value portraits.

At the very beginning before we started making our grid value portraits we were practicing taking our line for a walk. Taking a line for walk means when you do a scribble and then you fill in the gaps with patterns.

Next we had to do enlarging pictures. There was a small picture of a bee and then we had to draw the bee but bigger.

When we were making our portraits we had to do a different pattern in each box . Like stars .

also when we were making our portraits when ever they was a darker spot on our pictures then we would have to make the patterns closer together. And whenever there was a lighter spot then we would have to make the pattern further apart.

Maths sudoku

Refletction:
My friend and I have been doing a math sudoku . A math sudoku you have to look at the numbers on the side and try work out what numbers would add up to = that nuumber. It is really fun.
